$700+ Fanatec GT DD Pro Racing Wheel Revealed, Pre-Orders Start Friday

Fans of racing games have a new premium product coming to the market next year: the Fanatec GT DD Pro racing wheel is a seriously cool piece of kit — and it will set you back at least $700.

2021 has been a pretty solid year for racing games. Aside from silly new stuff like Hot Wheels Unleashed, the launch of Forza Horizon 5 has given players a lot to do in the coming months (and it’s a pretty great game in its own right).

However, there is another group of racing gamers who are interesting in something a little more compelling, a little more involved. These are the kind of people who will shrug at dropping hundreds of dollars on a solid racing wheel and pedals — and peripheral company Fanatec has just revealed something made especially for diehard racing sim fans.

The Fanatec GT DD Pro is a Next-Level Racing Wheel

There are racing wheels and then there are racing wheels; the Fanatec GT DD Pro racing wheel is the latter as a recent ResetEra thread notes. If you’re a fan of racing simulators or more hardcore games based on F1 racing, this is the wheel for you.

Billed as “the first official Direct Drive Wheel for the Gran Turismo series,” the Fanatec GT DD Pro has a lot of tech behind the scenes. You can see it in action in the video above, but the short of it is that it has a next-level force feedback system, all of the buttons you’d need for racing sim games, and more. Heck, it even has special “Contactless Hall” sensors that are going to last a lot longer than an analog piece of kit.

It should be noted, however, that the Fanatec GT DD Pro racing wheel starts at $700; a number of upgrade kids and bundles are available that can add a few hundred bucks to the price. Naturally, all sorts of software and hardware tuning options are available. It doesn’t just work on PC, either; this racing wheel is also supported on PS4 and PS5.

If you’re looking for a new racing wheel and you have some cash burning a hole in your pocket, you can pre-purchase the Fanatec GT DD Pro racing wheel via its official website starting on Black Friday. You can expect it to arrive on your doorstep sometime in March 2022.
