Dead Cells Hollow Knight Crossover Coming with Update 26

A Dead Cells Hollow Knight crossover has been announced by Motion Twin — you’ll be able to get Hollow Knight’s sword (and who knows what else) when Dead Cells Update 26 launches next week.

Dead Cells is a roguelite Metroidvania action platformer that has proven to be pretty popular; it has already sold well over 2 million copies, a roaring success for an indie game. It most recently launched the “Practice Makes Perfect” Update which added a Training Room and new buffs that help you explore new zones.

As for Hollow Knight, this game is also in the Metroidvania franchise and features similar combat and gameplay (albeit with a radically different visual style). While you’re waiting for its upcoming sequel, you’ll be able to experience something new when the Dead Cells Hollow Knight crossover launches next week.

What’s Coming in the Dead Cells Hollow Knight Crossover in Update 26?

For the moment, we don’t know much about what’s coming in the Dead Cells Hollow Knight crossover. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait too long to find out.

“Tomorrow we’ll have a seat with the Last but not Least of our friends…,” read a mysterious teaser from Motion Twin yesterday. Many people correctly guessed that this was a Hollow Knight crossover which was subsequently confirmed today.

“You nailed it, Hollow Knight is our last guest!” read today’s tweet from Motion Twin. “The Knight is a bit too shy to show his face. However he was still nice enough to let us use his weapon! And how cool is it to pogo on enemies?”

Based on this tweet, it looks like the titular Hollow Knight won’t be arriving in the game. However, his sword will certainly serve as a fine weapon in your adventures — and Motion Twin might add some other goodies, too.

When is the Dead Cells Update 26 Release Date?

The Dead Cells Update 26 release date is Monday, November 22, 2021. This update will feature the Dead Cells Hollow Knight crossover (and maybe some other things, too).

For now, you can buy Dead Cells for PC and consoles starting at $24.99 or your regional equivalent via its official website. And if you haven’t had the chance to check out Hollow Knight, you can get it on PC and consoles for $14.99.
