Morrowind Mod Tamriel Rebuilt Lays Out 2022 Roadmap

Tamriel Rebuilt, a mod for The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind that adds the Morrowind mainland to the titular region, has just released a new roadmap for the project. The roadmap dives into the areas that will be added next to the mod in 2022 and onward.

Less knowledgable fans may not realize it, but Morrowind doesn’t take place on the mainland of the same name. Instead, players explore the island of Vvardenfell, also known as the Black Isle, which is nestled inside the crescent-shaped mainland. Tamriel Rebuilt is a mod that puts the Morrowind (mainland) back in Morrowind (the game,) and has been in constant development for over two decades. Currently, roughly half of the mainland is complete and has about 360 quests available for players looking to explore more of the Morrowind region. In their latest development diary, written by Sultan of Rum, the team shows what parts of the mainland are coming down the pipe.

Currently in progress areas for future Tamriel Rebuilt expansions, numbered according to expected order of release.

The first two areas players can expect to see are:

• The Dominions of Dust, which covers three sparsely-settled regions as well as Andothren, the first major Hlaalu city.
• The Embers of Empire, which will massively overhaul a few areas in the northeastern part of the map.
• Thirr Valley will add an area to the southeast of the Dominions of Dust and will be the first area to be developed entirely anew by the current iteration of the mod’s development team
• Sundered Scar, just to the east of Old Ebonheart, will likely get a reworking as it’s the most “technically troubled” of the “finished” regions.
• The deep-red desert highland of Shipal-Shin will add a wild (south-)west area that separates Morrowind from Black Marsh and Eastern Cyrodiil of Oblivion fame.
• Filling in the rest of Morrowind’s Narsis district is the Othreleth Woods, a thick and alien mushroom forest that acts as the main breadbasket for the Hlaalu.
