The Game Awards 2021 kicks off in a few short days and Geoff Keighley is making big promises, stating that there are “four or five” reveals on the scale of Elden Ring in a new interview.
The year is coming to an end and that means it’s time for The Game Awards. This awards show always has something cool to reveal; last year was jam-packed with surprises and PlayStation walked away with a ton of awards. As we get ready for The Game Awards 2021 to launch later this week, showrunner Geoff Keighley is doing the rounds in media — and it looks like this year’s show might be the most ambitious yet.
What to Expect For The Game Awards 2021
In a new interview, The Game Awards creator and showrunner Geoff Keighley talks about the usual troubles — there’s lots of planning and not enough time for him to actually enjoy most of the games he’s looking forward to. He’s also making big promises — apparently, this year’s show is going to have quite a few announcements on the scale of the massive Elden Ring reveal.
“There were a lot of things that were good about [the Elden Ring reveal] so yes, I was uniquely excited to be able to bring that to people,” Keighley said in an interview with USA Today (via Nibel on Twitter). “This year? Oh, God, there are probably four or five things of that level. I can’t wait to show people this stuff.”
Now, let’s reign in some of that hype — according to Keighley, he’s been keeping an eye on the rumors about this year’s reveals and he says that most of them are wrong. However, next-gen console gamers can look forward to one or two big reveals. You can watch The Game Awards on December 9, 2021, starting at 7:00 PM Eastern via its official website.
