Starward Industries has revealed that The Invincible story will have multiple endings and branching paths, giving us plenty to do in the upcoming sci-fi game based on Stanislaw Lem’s 1973 novel of the same name.
The Invincible was first revealed late last year as the first project of Starward Industries, a new game developer comprised of former CD Projekt Red developers. It’s a good time for fans of quirky sci-fi games, especially with the announcement of The Outer Worlds 2 earlier this year. Now, a new trailer has dropped that tells us a little more about its story and world.
What We Know About The Invincible Story
We already knew that The Invincible story was based on Stanislaw Lem’s 1973 novel of the same name, but there is still a lot we don’t know aside from the fact that it’s going to be an original story set in that world. Today’s trailer shows off some stunning new scenery intermixed with concept art and a somewhat surprising reveal that we won’t have a linear story.
“With The Invincible, our aim is to tell a cinema-like, nonlinear story where the choices and decisions that you do impact on how the story evolves,” Starward Industries Community Manager MichaĆ Napora explained in today’s video. “We are creating a flowing experience with multiple story branches and multiple endings.”
The Invincible – Chronicles vol. 1 also highlights something that many had suspected — the planet of Regis III has strange alien structures on them that defy explanation, especially since it was supposed to be a dead planet. We also learned a bit about the antagonists; humanity is somewhat divided and you are not the only one on this world, echoing the political atmosphere of the Cold War.
Finally, we’ve learned that the main character is a woman named Yasna. Her crew has disappeared on the world, so something is clearly amiss. What that could be, however, is a mystery. For now, you can learn more about the game on its official website and you can add The Invincible to your wishlist on Steam; you’ll be able to play it when it launches on PC and consoles sometime in 2022.
