Black Desert Online keeps on chugging year after year like most MMORPG’s do, but 2021’s class updates have seen a revitalization of Pearl Abyss’ title. The flagship MMORPG has seen more than a 230% increase on PC in North America and Europe. It’s not quite as exciting globally but still quite good, with a 165% new daily player increase globally.
How did this happen? Well, the aforementioned class updates were apparently quite extensive, with 17 of 23 available classes in the game receiving a reboot and a major overhaul. This includes new skill sets and improved abilities and damage factors. There are also new customization and appearance options for each class, which were added to better highlight the identity behind each class and show off what they can offer. Class balance has also been improved, especially for those that enjoy completing PvE (Player versus Environment) content.
This all sounds pretty nice for fans of Black Desert Online and those interested in modern MMORPG’s in general, which have been gradually whittled down to a few choices over the years. The good news began back in December 2020 when it was announced that Pearl Abyss would take over publishing duties for the title, which can sometimes be a very good thing for games weighed down by a restrictive publisher. This was then followed by a new class announcement as well as the game’s first co-op dungeon, and then a few months ago players received a posh new manor to decorate, which is swell.
If players want to figure out which classes they want to play/test out, they can take personality tests to see which class suits them best. If you don’t want to do that you can also use Marni’s Unstable Fuel in-game where they can try out new player classes using their main character’s existing gear.
If you don’t care about that and just want free stuff, you’re in luck: there’s a variety of in-game awards for players which range from new guild missions and login rewards, so be sure to get on top of that if you want to earn your free goodies.
