Microids to Make Three Garfield Games

Do you hate Monday’s? Microids has developed a serious case of the Monday’s as they’ve just announced a deal with ViacomCBS Consumer Products to make three Garfield games. They will be three original titles based on the orange feline, and they will span across different video game genres.

“We are thrilled by this new agreement with ViacomCBS Consumer Products!” says Alain Milly, Editorial Director for Microids. “Garfield is a well-known and family-friendly IP fitting perfectly our portfolio made of popular franchises for all ages. Following successful collaborations on Garfield: Wild Ride and Garfield Kart Furious Racing, we are incredibly honored to work with ViacomCBS Consumer Products on three new games”.

As for what specific genres players can expect, Microids has made the Syberia series, so I would say it’s all but confirmed we’re getting a point-and-click adventure title or two. As for what else, I don’t think we’re getting a Garfield Kart sequel anytime soon, so kart racing is probably out… even if they were the publisher for some reason, and the game itself has a surprisingly high 89% review score on Steam. You know what? Screw it, Garfield Kart 2 is coming, you heard it here first.

I kid, I kid. But if you search Microids on Steam there’s 127 results so there’s a lot of genres to potentially choose from. They published Blacksad, a bunch of Asterix beat-em-up titles, Garfield: Wild Ride, a 3D Mario-esque Smurfs title… there’s a lot of ways that Microids could approach a three separate Garfield games.

Either way, stay tuned to TechRaptor for more information on the world-famous feline who hates Monday’s and loves lasagna.
