Iron Gate AB has announced that Valheim sales have surpassed 10 million units total, just a few months into its second year on Steam Early Access.
Valheim made a splash when it first launched back in February 2021. In the time since then, its developer Iron Gate has focused on fixing bugs and providing new content, most recently with the Hearth and Home Update late last year and the Mountains Update earlier this year. It looks like a lot of people are enjoying this new content: Valheim has sold over 10 million copies to date.
10 Million Valheim Sales in 15 Months
The announcement about Valheim sales was made earlier today on the game’s official Twitter account — a total of 10 million copies have been sold in just under 15 months.
“#Valheim has sold over 10 million copies!” read the tweet on the Valheim Twitter account. “Thank you to every single one of you who got us to this milestone [–] when we launched the game we could never in our wildest dreams have imagined this!”
While 10 million sales is nothing to sneeze at, the game had already sold an impressive 5 million copies in just over a month; that means it took a little over a year to make up the other half of this sales milestone. The game has proven to be such a big success that it made up the majority of the profits for the tail end of Embracer Group’s 2020 Fiscal Year (which ended on March 31, 2021).
As Valheim continues to suck in new gamers, Iron Gate continues to work on future content for the game; the next big release will be the long-awaited Mistlands Update that should be arriving before the end of 2022. There’s still plenty of fun to be had in the game right now, though! You can join in on the fun by buying Valheim for PC via Steam at the price of $19.99 or your regional equivalent.
