Aerial combat game The Falconeer is getting a city builder spinoff. Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles is a standalone game set in the same world as the original title, but this time, you’ll be building a city and protecting it from the uncaring world of the Ursee.
What is Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles?
We’re up to our elbows in city builders right now. Whether you want to build cities based on Viking mythology, right at the bottom of the ocean, or on the back of a massive wandering creature, there’s something for you out there. What if you want to build yourself a city in the world of the cult 2020 aerial combat game The Falconeer, though? Well, there’s a city builder for that as well.
Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles is a standalone city builder set in the same world as The Falconeer. You don’t need to have played the original game to enjoy this one, so don’t worry if you haven’t gotten around to it yet. The game is inspired by developer Tomas Sala’s love of building and kitbashing, which refers to creating things from different model kit components, so you can expect similar gameplay here. Sala’s new game is intended to be relaxing rather than frenetic, so you shouldn’t expect a huge level of challenge from it. With that said, you won’t be able to rest on your laurels, either; it’ll feature light combat elements and resource management, so you can’t just sit back and watch your city evolve.
As well as this, Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles will also include minor story elements, so you can get to know the inhabitants of The Ursee a little better. For the most part, though, the game will be focused on building and maintaining beautiful cities atop the ragged cliffs of The Ursee, so if you played The Falconeer and wished you could just live in its world for a while, it looks like you’re in luck.
We don’t have a release date for Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles yet, so it’s going to be a while before you can play this one. Sala and publisher Wired Productions recommend you wishlist the game on Steam so you can be kept abreast of any future updates for it, though, so make sure you do that if this one floats your boat (or, indeed, your falcon).
