Latest Crusader Kings 3 Update Adds More Than 100 New Events

The latest Crusader Kings 3 update, Bastion, is arriving today, and Paradox has released a new development diary detailing all the things the update will change. This Crusader Kings 3 update will launch today, along with the Friends & Foes DLC that will ring players $4.99. That latter bit of info is probably not the greatest news considering the Crusader 3 DLC price hike, so let’s take a look at it all, shall we?

What can I expect in the Crusader Kings 3 update and DLC?

Perhaps most important are the over 100 new events and event chains that have been added to the game, which will expand upon the relationships players have with their family, friends, rivals, best friends, and nemeses. These events can be anything from dealing with multiple rival spouses (oh dear) that are pushing their children to be first in line of succession all the way through to making a friend at a bonfire as a medieval child. There’s also some new mood music that will focus on the Middle East, the Western Sphere, and wherever you find yourself playing.

War is part and parcel of being a medieval leader.

Free features coming with the Friends & Foes DLC include 12 new Childhood Personality Events, relationship icons on character portraits so players can see who is a friend or rival (or a lover) at a glance, and cool little additions such as a populist leader gaining extra gold upon victory so that they can afford to create titles and Men-at-Arms. Along with this are also 14 new event illustrations that players can expect to see, including a food cellar, a roaring bonfire, and a crossroads with a rustic inn at its center, as well as new character animations for events.

As for what changes players can expect from the patch, the most interesting additions range from Genghis Khan now starting with Athletic (so he’s definitely ripped now) to ‘Domestic Affairs’ now also increasing the rate in which players will lose tyranny. Basically, there’s something for everyone. For instance, clans can now offer religious exemption when vassalizing, which is definitely an intriguing change that will help accommodate the more religious folks out there.

An example of another interesting change that players might not expect is that only truly irrational AI characters are going to convert to Adamitism from now on. What’s that? Well, it was a religious sect that wore no clothing during religious services. Paradox didn’t have to make this change, but now players probably won’t have to go to church naked, which may be a blessing for some and a curse for others.
