Thanks to a video from the official PlayStation Latin America YouTube channel, we now have a Sackboy PC release date. The game is making the jump from PlayStation consoles to PC next month, bringing some of the features you’d expect from a PC port with it.
According to said video, Sackboy: A Big Adventure lands on PC on October 27th. While Sony still hasn’t officially announced the game’s PC release in full, it was part of the massive GeForce Now leak and also appears to have a SteamDB page, so it shouldn’t be too long before the Sackboy PC version is revealed around the world.
When Sackboy does launch for PC, it’ll bring a number of new features the PlayStation console versions don’t have. These include support for 120Hz refresh rates at 4K resolution, as well as variable refresh rate support and compatibility with ultrawide 21:9 monitors.
Naturally, just like with other PlayStation releases like Spider-Man Remastered, it’ll also probably be possible to mod Sackboy on PC, so get ready for the inevitable slew of heartwarming, disturbing, and just plain strange Sackboy mods created by its community. How long before someone mods the Stray cat into Sackboy, I wonder?
It’s all go for PlayStation franchises on PC
It’s not just Sackboy that appears to be making the jump to PC. Back in May, a PC port for ultra-hard bullet hell roguelite Returnal was all but confirmed by a SteamDB page, and now, we’ve got even more evidence that a Returnal PC version is on the way thanks to another leak.
A user on gaming forum IconEra posted a video which appears to depict PC menus and customization options for Returnal. It’s a pretty standard suite of PC options; V-sync, graphics quality, and screen optimizations are all shown against a backdrop of protagonist Selene facing down some red lasers. At this point, PC releases for Returnal and Sackboy are pretty badly-kept secrets, so again, we can’t imagine a Returnal PC announcement can be far away.
Naturally, we’ll keep you posted on both Sackboy and Returnal and their eventual journey to the realms of PC. In the meantime, you can grab Sackboy for PS4 and PS5 right here, and Returnal is available exclusively for PS5 here. If you are playing Returnal, make sure to take a look at our beginner’s guide, because Atropos can be a pretty treacherous place to navigate.
