Slime Rancher 2 Sales Hit 100k in Under 6 Hours

It looks like a lot of you have been waiting to play the Slime Rancher sequel, because Slime Rancher 2 has hit 100k sales in under six hours. According to Nick Popovich, the CEO of Monomi Park and the director of the Slime Rancher series, the team wanted to hit 100k sales in 24 hours. Instead, the game has reached that mark in a quarter of that time. It’s also been the best sales day ever for the developer and publisher by “a literal order of magnitude“, making it a good day to be a Slime Rancher fan and a great day to be Nick Popovich. Let’s take a closer look at it, shall we?

What is Slime Rancher 2?

If you have no idea what I’m talking about, Slime Rancher 2 is the sequel to the original Slime Rancher, which had 15 million players worldwide. It’s a casual indie simulator where you’ll build, ranch, and farm on a rainbow-hued island. You’ll continue Beatrix LeBeau’s adventures and discover ancient technology, unknown natural sources, and new slimes. I mean, you’re a slime rancher, so that last part is to be expected, eh?

You’ll be seeing a lot of these little guys.

You’ll also be building a conservatory on Rainbox Island, which will earn you newbucks from the slimeports and resources you accumulate. You can use your newbucks to upgrade your vacpack, build new gadgets, and expand your conservatory. 

The game is currently out on Early Access for both Steam and Xbox Series X|S. It’ll run you $29.99 and will stay in Early Access for “at least 18 months”. If you want to wait until the game is fully released, put it on your wishlist and make sure to keep an eye on it leading up to spring 2024.
