A Star Ocean: The Divine Force demo will soon be available for you to try out. The latest installment in this long-running JRPG series will be getting its demo early next week, so you won’t have much longer to wait if you’re a fan of the franchise.
When is the Star Ocean: The Divine Force demo coming?
Per a TGS 2022 stream (thanks, Nibel), the Star Ocean: The Divine Force demo will arrive on September 20th, which is this coming Tuesday. The demo will be available on consoles, but unfortunately doesn’t seem to be coming to PC, so you’ll need to be a PS4, PS5, or Xbox player to check it out.
According to Square Enix, the Star Ocean: The Divine Force demo will feature around two hours of content, which is a pretty sizable chunk of the main game. There’s no word yet on whether progress will carry over from the demo to the full game, so you’ll have to wait until this October to find that out.
As well as the demo announcement, we also got a look at a suitably melodramatic trailer showing off some Star Ocean: The Divine Force combat and exploration, as well as its typically anime-inspired story. If you’re a Star Ocean fan, you’ll likely find plenty to love in there, as it shows the game’s over-the-top character design and space opera setting.
What is Star Ocean: The Divine Force?
Star Ocean: The Divine Force is the sixth mainline installment in the Star Ocean series of JRPGs, which dates all the way back to 1996’s Star Ocean (although the game wouldn’t come to the West until a 2008 PSP port). The games typically marry a spacefaring setting with action RPG combat and anime-style character designs.
This sixth game will arrive for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox on October 22nd. Make sure to check out the demo before then so you can get an idea of what to expect when the game lands.
