The Kerbal Space Program 2 Early Access release date has been revealed. You can look forward to getting your hands on this space sandbox sim when it launches on PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the official Kerbal Space Program website on February 24th. It’ll set you back $49.99 while in its Early Access period.
Kerbal Space Program 2 was originally announced back in 2019 and saw numerous delays to its original spring 2020 release date, eventually settling on an early 2023 launch. Now, we know exactly when that launch will be, and we also know what features will be present in the game at launch thanks to a new trailer from developer Intercept Games. You can check that trailer out here.
At launch, Kerbal Space Program 2 will feature what its developer calls a “huge mass of technology beneath the surface” that’s intended to support later additions and iterations. Four launch pads and two runways will be available, as will the basic building systems, launch protocols, and heads-up display.
As the Early Access period continues, you can look forward to new tech, interstellar travel, and colonies all being added, as well as multiplayer capabilities so you can enjoy abject failure alongside your friends. Intercept also plans to improve Kerbal Space Program 2 modding support as time goes on; the studio says it recognizes how important mods have been to Kerbal Space Program, and it wants to make sure the second game is “even more mod-friendly”.
The Kerbal Space Program 2 roadmap is looking pretty busy
There’s lots more content to come as part of the Kerbal Space Program 2 roadmap, which was introduced alongside the Early Access release date announcement. The roadmap includes more exploration features, extra science stuff, and plenty more. You can take a look at it here.
As you can see, the developers are planning to support Kerbal Space Program 2 for the long haul, so picking it up in Early Access is probably a solid idea if you know you’re going to love it. Kerbal Space Program 2 is currently available to wishlist on Steam, and it’ll also be available on the Epic Games Store and via its own official website.
