Our The Planet Crafter Warden’s Key and Ancient Paradise Achievement Guide helps you solve one of the game’s biggest mysteries (and find some loot, too).
What is The Planet Crafter Warden’s Key?
The Planet Crafter Warden’s Key is a device that is used to open up ancient ruins on the planet. A total of ten will be found in your quest to complete the “Ancient Paradise” achievement, which leads to some very useful loot.
How to Get The Planet Crafter Warden’s Key
You’ll get the first Warden’s Key after you receive a message from Riley directing you to -248:42:93. From there, you’ll have to travel to several different locations on the map in order to unlock all of the locations. Completing these tasks will net you a fair amount of loot and the “Ancient Paradise” Achievement, which we’ll detail in the following section.
The Planet Crafter Ancient Paradise Achievement Walkthrough
The journey to complete The Planet Crafter Ancient Paradise achievement begins with a message from Riley. Naturally, this means that you’ll need to have a Communication Antenna and Screen – Transmissions constructed, so you won’t hear about this mission naturally until you’ve progressed a little bit in the game.
Getting Ready
Before you embark on your expedition, make sure to prepare for a lengthy trip. You’ll want to bring at least two bottles of Water, at least one piece of Food, and the supplies to build a temporary shelter to restore your oxygen.
Finally, you’ll be able to tackle the first two-thirds of this quest regardless of your Terraforming progress. However, the third and final part requires that you advance Terraforming to 2.00 GTi.
The message from Riley sends you to the following coordinates:
-248:42:93
This will lead you to an area filled with black rocks covered in silver lines. The specific location you’re looking for is a small cave that leads to some giant mushrooms:
Finding the First Warden’s Key
Head down into the cave. If you’ve read Riley’s transmission, you’ll see a blue icon pointing you toward the first Warden’s Key. If not, you need to go to these coordinates:
-217:-45:491
You’ll find an odd, hourglass-shaped device sitting atop a pedestal with some coordinates written on it:
Here are the coordinates you’ll be aiming for:
-464:-40:97
The First Temple and Warden’s Key #2
Fortunately, this is in the same area. Use the coordinates display on the bottom-left of the screen to guide you and you’ll eventually come upon a door and a pedestal. Interact with the pedestal and place the Warden’s Key on top of it. This will open the door to the facility.
Inside, you’ll find some tablets talking about the lore of the “Wardens” and two paths. The right path will take you to a giant starship secreted away underground:
As far as I can tell, you cannot interact with this starship in any way. Take care not to fall off of the platform — it’s an instant death zone and you’ll lose anything you’re carrying.
The left-hand path leads to another pedestal with another set of coordinates:
As you might have guessed by the very different numbers, these are quite far away. Pick up the second Warden’s Key, head out the temple, and go to the entrance of the cave (-248:42:93).
Onward to the Second Temple
From here, your best bet is to head back to the starting valley. If you haven’t gotten your Heat high enough, you’ll have to go the long way to your next destination:
964:68:1744
Your next landmark is this system of caves (which also happens to be a good source of Iridium):
Walk beyond it, following the cliff wall and keeping an eye on the coordinates.
Eventually, you’ll come across this odd formation on the side of the cliffs:
This cave is your ultimate destination. It’s also a great source for Super Alloy in the early game (and one of the few places you can mine it with an Ore Extractor).
Head inside and move toward the indicated coordinates (964:68:1744). You’ll find a pedestal for Warden’s Key #2 and a massive door that mystified early adopters of the game. Place Warden’s Key #2 on the pedestal and head inside.
The Second Temple
You may be tempted to head right inside, but don’t go forward just yet — you will be unable to build in many of the areas going forward. If you don’t have a breathable atmosphere yet, it’s a good idea to prepare several Oxygen Capsules so that you have enough time to safely explore. You’ll also need a minimum of 3 empty inventory spaces.
Head through the door and down the stairs. You’ll eventually come across a small doorway. Take the left-hand path and you’ll be led to Warden’s Key #3 (at 750:5:1863):
Turn back around and then turn left again (the original right-hand path). This will take you into a large valley.
Follow the valley’s path ahead and you’ll encounter Warden’s Key #4 (at 690:4:2115):
Our next step is to explore the two buildings.
On the left is a structure that you can head inside; you’ll find a Golden Crate and another lore tablet:
On the right is another large structure.
This time, we’re not heading inside — we’re heading up:
Walk up the wooden ramp behind the building and keep heading upward. You’re heading towards the golden dome on the top, which has a lore tablet.
Along the way, you can also sneak a peek at a mysterious glowing orb. This area is much like the spaceship in the previous temple; don’t fall off the edge or you won’t be able to recover your stuff!
After you’re done sightseeing, head towards Warden’s Key #5 up on the roof at 663:28:2105. This is the final task for this area.
As before, this final Warden’s Key has a set of coordinates on its pedestal:
Fortunately, this next destination isn’t too far away!
The Third (and Final) Temple
The final set of coordinates for completing our The Planet Crafter Warden’s Key and Ancient Paradise Achievement Guide (and finding some neat loot) is only a little ways away:
1565:109:2500
Exit the Super Alloy cave and make a left. Head northwest.
Your ultimate goal is this rock formation in the distance:
It doesn’t look all that different from any other cliff wall in the game. However, it conceals a secret.
Once you get to the exact coordinates, you’ll find a pedestal — this one requires three Warden’s Keys to open it! Place them in the pedestal and watch the magic happen:
Remember when I said you’d need to reach 2.00 GTi on Terraforming to complete this achievement?
Here’s why:
That block of ice will completely prevent you from moving forward until it melts. There’s no way beyond it without cheating. Advance your Terraforming as best as you can so you can access this area. (If you don’t mind a bit of cheating, you can use F4 to “unstuck” your way through the walls and back out when you’re done).
Either way, you’ll find something truly astonishing on the other side:
The challenge isn’t quite over yet, though! There are five more Warden’s Keys to find in this area. Unlike previous areas, you’re actually able to build in this valley. It’s a good idea to set up a small base camp so you can recharge your Oxygen, especially since there are no minerals you can pick up on the ground in this area.
Here’s where to find them:
- 1234:98:2898 – Directly in front of the third temple.
- 1328:98:2941 – To the right of the third temple, on ground level.
- 1190:168:2914 – On top of the wooden catwalks to the left.
- 1200:114:2989 – Up some stairs on the right side of the temple.
- 1177:185:2980 – Up a vine on the right-hand side of the temple, on top of a catwalk.
Once you’ve collected the final five Warden’s Keys, head down to the ground floor and walk up the central stairs. Place the keys in the pedestal. Head in, and you’ll be treated to a lovely sight:
This is your ultimate prize: two Golden Chests filled with a wide variety of high-tech loot. Additionally, you’ll find two Butterfly Golden Larva, insect larvae that give you a massive 1,500% Insects multiplier.
