A brand new Nier: Automata anime trailer has dropped, showing off more of the production’s beautifully-realized android-filled world and more. Nier: Automata Ver1.1a begins airing on January 7th, so you won’t have much longer to wait if you’re eager to check it out.
It’s fair to say Nier: Automata turned out more successful and popular than many thought it would, crossing four million lifetime sales and arguably paving the way for last year’s Nier Replicant remaster. Now, a brand new trailer for the show has arrived, so you can see more of the anime’s fluid animation and depiction of Yoko Taro’s idiosyncratic world.
The trailer shows that the anime is likely going to hew pretty close to the game’s storyline. It shows 2B and 9S making their way through the Abandoned Factory, battling the giant Engels mech, and coming across the unusually humanoid machine lifeform Adam. You can check out the trailer right here, and I’d recommend doing so if you’re a Nier: Automata fan.
As well as the trailer, the folks behind the Nier: Automata anime also released a lengthy “Special Program” delving into how the anime was made, as well as the challenges the team faced when adapting such a unique video game. The Special Program is in Japanese, but it has English subtitles throughout.
The English cast for Nier: Automata Ver1.1a hasn’t been released yet, so we don’t know if the voice actors behind the game’s iconic characters will be making their return in some kind of English dub. However, we do know that the Japanese voice actors for 2B, 9S, and Pascal, among others, are returning, so it’s not a stretch to imagine that the English actors could be asked back as well.
You can grab Nier: Automata right now on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. It’s still well worth a playthrough, especially if you want to prepare for the anime.
