Today Bandai hosted Digimon Con 2023, and while it was a bit light on gaming news, it did showcase new gameplay of the upcoming Switch and PC port of Digimon World: Next Order.
The game was presented by producer Takahiro Yokota, who also provided commentary throughout the gameplay for those who have never played the original game. Digimon World: Next Order was released in 2016 for PS Vita and one year after for PS4.
You can watch it below. Do keep in mind that the trailer showcased at the beginning is approximately one month old. The new gameplay comes at the 5-minute mark.
The developer showcased gameplòay from the early stages of the game, starting with the choice of two partner Digimon amon ten DigiEggs.
One of the interesting aspects of the game is that your Digimon will actually reach the end of their lifespan at some point. It can be extended, but not indefinitely. When they do, they will reincarnate into a new egg that will retain some of their stats, so you can continue to train them over and over through the life cycles.
We then take a look at training and evolving the Digimon, and the paths they can follow to become your perfect partners. You also have to perform tasks like feeding your Digimon and even have them use the toilet. Yes. That’s a thing. At times conditions for evolution are hidden and you can learn them by praising or scolding your partners or after battle.
