Japanese Developer Technobrain announced that the Steam version of its ATC simulator I am an Air Traffic Controller 4 will get a new expansion.
The expansion, titled ATC4: Airport NEW CHITOSE [RJCC] will be released on Steam in Q1 2023 with English subtitles and Japanese audio, and it does pretty much what it says on the tin, adding the northern New Chitose International airport serving the city of Sapporo and its surroundings to ATC4.
It features both the civilian side of the airport and the adjoining Chitose Airbase with its F-15 Eagle, and also lets you handle Coast Guard flights. Since the airport is located on the Northern island of Hokkaido, you’ll be able to play in the winter, dealing with snow and the rigid local climate, on top of the summer.
That being said, the summer itself isn’t going to be a cakewalk, as you’ll have to deal with the fog rising from the ocean.
Below you can check out a trailer for the Japanese version which was released a while ago, since an English trailer hasn’t been published just yet. It’s worth mentioning that the English version on Steam unfortunately does not feature real-world airlines and is stuck with fictional ones. I really wish Technobrain changed course on this or at least provided an official patch restoring the real airlines, but it is what it is.
I am an Air Traffic Controller is a long-running franchise in Japan, having debuted all the way in 1998 and its fourth game launched on Steam in 2020 featuring Haneda Airport in Tokyo. The first DLC focusing on Naha Airport in Okinawa was released in 2021.
Incidentally, if you want to play on Switch, a dedicated version titled I am an Air Traffic Controller – Airport Hero Haneda is also available, published by Sonic Powered.
Technobrain is also known for its awesome flight simulator airports, and they already released two for Microsoft Flight Simulator, Yao and Kansai International Airport. At the moment, they haven’t yet announced their next airport, but you can follow our daily MSFS coverage to be informed when they do.
