Hazelight has announced that its co-op adventure platformer It Takes Two has crossed the 10 million sales barrier. Given that the game isn’t playable solo, it’s also likely that lots more players have experienced it, so the actual player count is probably even higher than 10 million.
On Twitter, Hazelight expresses its gratitude for It Takes Two‘s impressive sales. The studio says that it “never dared to dream” of the game having so many fans and thanks players for supporting it. Hazelight also points out that “potentially twice as many” players have actually experienced the game, although given that it’s playable online, that 10 million figure probably contains a fair few online co-op purchases.
If you’re not familiar with It Takes Two, it’s a co-operative platformer by Josef Fares, the creative mind behind games like Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons and A Way Out. The game revolves around Cody and May, a bickering couple who are magically reduced to a tiny size and who must find a way to grow big again while also navigating their troubled relationship.
It didn’t take long for players to warm to It Takes Two; the game racked up a million sales within its first month on release. It’s proven so popular that movie and TV adaptations are apparently in the works, with the movie supposedly attracting Sonic the Hedgehog writers Pat Casey and Josh Miller as its scribes. Not bad for a game that was hit by a trademark claim from Take-Two Interactive over its name, eh?
You can pick up It Takes Two right now on PC, and it’s also available on PlayStation consoles and Xbox platforms, as well as Nintendo Switch. If you’re an EA Play member (which you are if you’re signed up to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass), then you can play It Takes Two at no additional cost via your subscription.
