Mortal Kombat 12 Revealed During Warner Bros. Discovery Earnings Conference Call

Warner Bros. Discovery is hosting its financial conference call for investors and analysts, and the company had a surprise in store for fans of the Mortal Kombat

During the conference (shared by YouTube user Valliant Renegade), following the sales data for Hogwarts Legacy and alongside a mention of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, president and CEO David Zaslav mentioned “the highly-anticipated Mortal Kombat 12.”

Zaslav also added that the game is set to release “this year with ambitious launch projections.”

No further information was provided, and falling it “highly anticipated” is a bit strange considering that it wasn’t announced before, but we’ll take it.

Perhaps the reveal is not too surprising considering that Mortal Kombat 11 was launched all the way back in 2019 to strong acclaim from fans and critics, and three years have passed from the Aftermath expansion in 2020.

We don’t know if the announcement was planned or a slip of the tongue, but it didn’t seem to be involuntary. We’ll have to wait and see if Warner Bros. or Netherrealm Studios share anything of note any time soon. Of course, you’ll be able to read it here on TechRaptor as soon as they do. 

One thing is for sure, the series’ creator Ed Boon had a rather funny reaction to share.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Mortal Kombat franchise, it debuted all the way in 1992 originally at the arcades, when Netherrealm was still Midway Chicago studio. It was then ported to a veritable multitude of home consoles and even computers.

Besides its video games, the franchise has spawned plenty of media content including films, animated series, and TV shows. The latest live-action film was released in 2021.
