Today Capcom released a new video of the upcoming fighting game Street Fighter 6, focusing entirely on its soundtrack.
The video showcases the theme music track of the recently-revealed new character JP, titled “The Plunderer.”
The tune certainly sounds ominous, and why it’s associated with the head of an NGO remains a mystery. Yet, considering JP’s nationality, perhaps we shouldn’t be too surprised.
You can check out the track below. It certainly echoes the origin of its title in part of the music.
If you’re unfamiliar with JP, his full name is Johann Pavlovich and he’s a brand new character from russia making his debut in Street Fighter 6. Here’s how he was officially described by Capcom in his announcement press release shared at The Game Awards. Incidentally, you can see him in action in a previous trailer showing a full match against Blanka.
“JP is the head of an international nonprofit organization responsible for many successful investment projects, and the man behind Nayshall’s present prosperity. He has a beloved cat named Cybele. JP takes control of the entire map from all angles with moves like the powerful void-creating Departure, the clone-deploying Torbalan, the Embrace grab, and the destructive Interdiction.”
The video follows several gameplay clips showcasing full matches played by the developers including Marisa versus Manon herself, Dee Jay versus Dhalsim, and Blanka versus JP. We recently also learned that Thea Trinidad, also known as WWE Superstar Zelina Vega, joined the growing roster of commentators for the Real-Time Commentary feature introduced for the game.
Street Fighter 6 is releasing on June 2, 2023. This time around, it’s returning to its multiplatform nature, as it’ll launch for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. It’ll also come to the arcades via Taito, albeit that version won’t probably leave Japan at least for the time being.
