Watch Sony Engineers Dismantle the PlayStation VR 2 & its Controller in Official Teardown Videos

The PlayStation VR2 headset is getting close to its release, but today we get to see its guts, together with the internals of the PS VR2 Sense Controller.

Sony Interactive Entertainment released two new videos starring engineers Takamasa Araki from the Mechanical Design team and Takeshi Igarashi from the Peripheral Design team as they take apart both the headset and its included controllers to provide a close look at all the tech included.

The PlayStation VR 2 releases on February 22, 2023, with 37 games launching at launch or within the first month, including an update to Gran Turismo 7 that makes the game compatible with the new hardware

Speaking of technology, the new headset’s hardware includes panels capable of 2000 x 2040 resolution per eye at 90Hz or 120Hz a 110-degree field of view, a six-axis motion sensing system (three-axis gyroscope, three-axis accelerometer)​, an IR proximity sensor, 4 embedded cameras for headset and controller tracking​, IR-based eye tracking, and vibration.

The controllers come with their own six-axis motion sensing system (also with a three-axis gyroscope and a three-axis accelerometer), finger touch detection via capacitive sensors, IR position tracking, haptic feedback on the triggers, and built-in rechargeable batteries.
