After multiple teases and leaks, Lego 2K Drive has accidentally been revealed, and it’s coming in May. It’ll be an open-world racer developed by WWE 2K studio Visual Concepts, and it’s launching for PC and consoles on May 19th, so it’s safe to get excited if you’re a Lego Racers fan.
Leaks and rumors have been swirling about Lego 2K Drive for a couple of days now, but earlier today, IGN posted an article revealing the existence of the game officially. The article has since been taken down, likely because Lego and 2K are teasing an announcement for tomorrow. Looks like someone jumped the gun.
You’ll be able to build any vehicle you want to, taking part in lots of different race types including street races, boat challenges, and off-road drives. It’s looking like a cross between Lego Racers and Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts, and that’s no bad thing.
According to the announcement, both single-player gameplay and multiplayer modes will be supported, and you’ll be able to engage in either co-op or competitive play as well, so you can explore the city with your friends or take them on head-to-head. Fear not if you’re looking to enjoy this game alongside your family or friends, as Lego 2K Drive will also feature two-player split-screen, as you’d probably expect for a Lego title.
Lego 2K Drive is set to be released for PC, PlayStation consoles, Xbox platforms, and Nintendo Switch on May 19th. As well as featuring original Lego creations, the game will also contain cars and vehicles from various Lego promotions, including Lego City, Creator, and Speed Champions. Real-world vehicles will, it seems, also be featured, as IGN revealed that the McLaren Solus GT and F1 LM cars would be in the game.
An official Lego 2K Drive reveal is likely coming tomorrow, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled for that.
