Redfall Story Trailer Promises Many Mysteries To Uncover

Xbox and Arkane have released a new Redfall story trailer, giving us some more backstory regarding the island of Redfall and its vampiric infestation. It looks like the story will revolve around a series of sinister experiments, and it’ll be up to you to uncover the truth behind those experiments and what they wrought.

In the trailer, a voiceover can be heard intoning that “one drop of [her] blood could change everything…free people from sickness and death”. Another voice explains that the island’s vampire problem began with Aevum, “a company of parasites with a thirst for immortality”. People on Redfall began to go missing, cults began to spring up, and things generally began to get much, much worse. You can take a look at the trailer here.

The trailer introduces several powerful vampires who rule over the island of Redfall. They include the demonic-looking Hollow Man, the hulking Bloody Tom, the siren-like Miss Whisper, and the Black Sun, all of whom the trailer’s voiceover describes as “gods created by science”. It looks like Aevum has a lot to answer for.

Naturally, the only way you’ll be able to find out the answers to these questions is to delve into the darkness at the heart of the island and “take back Redfall”, as the voiceover suggests. If you were worried Redfall would shirk Arkane’s usual world-building and attention to detail, it seems like you might not need to worry too much; there will be mysteries to unravel as you blast your way through legions of vampires.

Redfall is due to arrive on PC and Xbox Series X|S on May 2nd. It’ll be a day one Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass release, and it will also support cross-play, so you’ll be able to play it alongside your friends on either platform. That also includes play between the Steam version and the Microsoft Store or Game Pass version. Stay tuned for more news about Arkane’s upcoming vampire shooter and all things Xbox.
