QuakeCon Returns in Person in 2023

Today Bethesda and id Software announced that, following three years exclusively online due to the pandemic, QuakeCon is coming back to its in-person roots.

According to the announcement made on the developer’s official site, the event will happen at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas, between Thursday, August 10, and Sunday, August 13, 2023.

The traditional “bring your own computer” LAN party is returning “reimagined and upgraded,” while a full set of programming will be available to enjoy and streamed online on Twitch for those who can’t attend.

With the focus on the BYOC event, there will be no exhibit hall and no general admission, with admittance limited to pre-registered BYOC guests. A full schedule will be shared at a later time.

The announcement includes a statement from id Software studio head Marty Stratton.

QuakeCon is our favorite event of the year, and we can’t wait to finally see our incredible QuakeCon community in-person again, celebrate games, and frag all weekend with thousands of friends. For our first year back, QuakeCon 2023 is focusing on the fan favorite BYOC and the players that made QuakeCon the best gaming gathering for more than 25 years.

Of course, you can expect coverage here on TechRaptorl, albeit the focus on the LAN party may mean that this year’s event may be light on the news. We’ll have to wait and see what the schedule is like to assess that.
