Square Enix has just announced a mobile game that’s inspired by the upcoming kart racer Chocobo GP. Sounds pretty cool, right? Well, it does sound alright but there’s just one big problem: it’s named Chocobo GP’. No, I didn’t misspell it and I didn’t somehow stutter through my keyboard. It’s truly one of the stupidest names I’ve ever heard, but hey, it’s current year. Let’s embrace Chocobo GP’ in all it’s idiotic glory.
Anyways, Chocobo… GP’ is now available on both iOS and Android mobile devices. Not so interestingly, in the press release it says that it’s meant to be read as Chocobo GP Dash, which is infuriating because it’s a much better name, but whatever. I’m fine with this.
Players will navigate through 35 different courses and prevent their Chocobo from losing momentum. There’s also a Ghost option that will allow players to race against themselves to try and beat their own records, which is always a neat feature to see. Players will only have to worry about to controls, so those that are obsessed with the stupid name can think about it while playing Chocobo GP’.
You’ll be able to customize your rollers with the coins you receive upon finishing each level, and Android 6 / iOS 11 or higher is required to play the game. Both operating systems are fairly old, so that shouldn’t be that big of a deal.
Chocobo GP, the game that people are actually excited about, is releasing on March 22, 2022, on the Nintendo Switch. If you want to get your Chocobo fix in the meantime, be sure to check out Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon, which we found to be a pretty good experience if a little grindy, or try out the Darwin Award nominee for bad naming Chocobo GP’.
