This morning, DICE have unveiled the Battlefield 2042 roadmap,. Among the major planned updates for a game that has been harshly received by its players are voice communication across all platforms and a refreshed in-round scoreboard.
While our final review found Battlefield 2042 to just be okay, its players have been very vocal about the bugs and changes in the game, to the point where the admins of the game’s subreddit had to consider locking it down after a particularly bad bit of toxicity. Today, DICE, the developers behind the franchise, are showing us how the game will evolve by releasing a Battlefiled 2042 roadmap. In a tweet announcing this roadmap, DICE acknowledge that the players have been waiting patiently to learn how DICE will “address feedback and implement extensive fixes to the game, key features that are important to you, and getting team play where it needs to be.”
Today we’re sharing the latest #Battlefield 2042 details, our new player feedback loop, and a status update for Season One.

One of the more notable updates coming down the pipe is a “refreshed in-round scoreboard” and in-game voice chat. The scoreboard and voice chat weren’t planned to be in the game at first, with a prior blog post calling those “legacy features.” As well as a scoreboard, players will be able to track their in-game progress with a player profile in the future. Meanwhile, the roadmap also mentions improving the reward loop, along with “expanded tools, modes, and tweaks to player experience gains in Battlefield Portal. Finally, to facilitate further improvements, the team is working on a new feedback loop, where the team and players will have centralized conversations about how to bring improvements and updates to the game.
