Wuthering Waves Details Monster Capture Gameplay in New Video

Chinese developer Kuro Game released a brand new video about its upcoming open-world action RPG Wuthering Waves.

The video focuses on the “Echo System” which in previous videos was called “Wutrelic System.” Designer “Farmer” takes the stage to introduce monsters, mentioning that they are attracted by humans and Resonators (the definition of the players in Wuthering Waves), so prolonged battles in the wilderness using much Resonance power can attract even more monsters.

That being said, when players defeat a monster, their abilities, named Echoes, become collectible. There are many Echo skills that players can collect including offense, defense, movement, and healing. The developers are planning to turn his system into one of the core parts of the game’s gameplay experience.

You can check out the video below. It also shows some tidbits of gameplay for your perusal.

Wuthering Waves doesn’t have a release date just yet, but we know that it will be launched at some point in the future for PC, iOS, and Android. It was announced back in May 2021 and it was recently showcased at Tokyo Game Show, where it gathered quite the crowd, so much that I wasn’t able to test it because the line was too long, but what I saw of the playable demo was certainly promising.

While there certainly are visual elements that create a comparison with the ultra-popular Genshin Impact, we don’t yet know how close the two titles are. It’ll be interesting to see if the developers will manage to avoid getting compared too closely with the big elephant in the room. For now, it’s definitely early days, so we’ll have to wait and see.
