Lost Ark Reveals New Wakanda-Like Continent Voldis With Epic Trailer

Korean developer Smilegate released a new trailer showing upcoming content that will be added to its popular MMORPG Lost Ark.

The trailer showcases Voldaik, a new continent that will be implemented in the Korean version of Lost Ark on February 15. It’s worth mentioning that the name has already appeared in the western localization as “Voldis.”

The new setting certainly appears similar in concept and look to Marvel’s Wakanda, described as a continent of wise people and alchemists and a land full of vitality and blessed by a heavenly climate. The locals are the descendant of the scholars who left the Ivory Tower and the natives, and have developed a special affinity with magic. They have created an advanced society and civilization.

The trailer also showcases the capital city Kalinari and the port where the player’s adventure in Voldis will begin. The city is dominated by the Sages’ Tower where many foreign visitors go to seek knowledge.

The city shows its majesty via the widespread use of alchemy, like the Aquagates that serve as means of fast transportation, while the cute homunculi created via alchemical knowledge provide helpful manpower.

We also get to see some of the characters that we’ll meet in the new continent, alongside the Abyss Dungeon named “the Ivory Tower of Chaos” and its Guardians of Chaos bosses.

Do keep in mind that given the current pace, it’ll likely take several months before this content is released on the global version of the game published by Amazon. Also, the names included here (besides “Voldis”) are literal translation from Korean, so they may change when they’re localized.

While we wait, you can check out the trailer below and dream of when you’ll be able to visit Voldis yourself.

Lost Ark is currently available for PC. Before Amazon Games brought it westward, it was launched in South Korea in 2019 by Smilegate. Recently, the developers have shared their plans for 2023, with plenty of content to come including the Artist advanced class that should be released on the live servers in April.

Incidentally, Amazon Games is also bringing another MMORPG made in Asia to the west, Bandai Namco’s Blue Protocol, albeit we don’t yet have a firm release window for that one. We know it’ll come later this year.
