Today third-party developers had some spiffy news to share about add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator, including a highly anticipated aircraft.
We start with acclaimed freeware developer FlyByWire, which you may know for creating the ultra-popular A32NX Airbus A320neo mod that radically improves the realism of the default A320neo. The team showcased its upcoming A380X Airbus A380, which not only will be free but looks absolutely impressive.
We get to take a good look at both the work being done on the flight deck, including ambient occlusion, weathering, and details, and the external model, which appears equally awesome. Incidentally, we hear that a clean version of the flight deck will be provided for those who share that preference.
At the moment, we don’t yet have a release window, but this looks like it’s going to be an awesome package for the convenient price of zero dollars.
Next, we get more freeware news with FSLTL. The developer of the popular free AI traffic add-on has released a new version of the injector used to manage the traffic numbered v1.3.6.
Among the changes is support for the models included in the FS Traffic payware AI add-on by Just Flight. This means that you’ll be able to use the two add-ons together. By default, FSLTL uses its own models and uses FS Traffic‘s as a fallback to fill the gaps, but you can use a dedicated option to have it the other way around.
You can read the patch notes below and follow the add-on’s progress on the dedicated Discord server.
- FS Traffic models support. By default, they will be used as a fallback after the FSLTL models in priority. A new setting is available in the injector config file and settable in the start-up questions that raises the priority of the FS Traffic models above FSLTL models, in essence making FSLTL fallback for FS Traffic. AIG fallback sits below both FSLTL and FS Traffic in priority.
- IMPORTANT: The FS Traffic injection processes must be disabled if you are using FSLTL injection. To ensure this, we advise that only the justflight-aircraft-traffic-fleet folder be in your community folder and all other FS traffic folders be removed / disabled.
- Fixes for FSHud integration. Integration had not been reliable since the 1.3 upgrade of the injector. This has now been fixed and is fully functional again.
- Sunshine Coast YBSU airport missing – now fixed and available for injection
- Added links to user guide and faq at top of injector run console display with red highlight in the hope some people might read them before engaging our volunteer support team
- Further class name tweaks in FSLTL in the sim toolbar to prevent overlap with other add-ons.
Last, but not least, Creative Mesh announced Cascade Airport (U70), a small but scenic airport in Idaho, with the approach straight over the beautiful Lake Cascade. The developer promises “highly detailed buildings and assets, textured with the latest PBR standard, animated objects like flags, people, and much, much more.”
You can see what it looks like below.
Microsoft Flight Simulator is currently available for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Cloud Gaming, including Game Pass.
