Today Embracer Group’s CDE Entertainment announced that Tomb Raider Reloaded is finally coming to mobile platforms after years of delays.
If the name rings a bell, it’s because Tomb Raider Reloaded was originally announced in 2020 for a 2021 release. It was then delayed to 2022 after a lackluster soft launch in South East Asia, and finally to 2023.
The game is developed by Emerald City Games in collaboration with Crystal Dynamics and it’s coming on February 14 for iOS and Android, and it’s also launching on Netflix where it’s included with all memberships without in-app purchases or ads so you can have your Valentine’s day with Lara Croft undisturbed.
Pre-registration is already available for both platforms and if you pre-register you’ll get a golden version of Lara’s dual pistols.
You can check out an announcement trailer below.
Here’s how Embracer officially describes the game.
“Tomb Raider Reloaded takes players on an action-filled adventure as they jump into the boots of groundbreaking hero Lara Croft on her swan-diving, cliff-climbing, back-flipping quest to obtain the ancient Scion artifact, clearing ever-changing rooms filled with new and familiar enemies as well as hazardous traps and puzzles. Along the way, they’ll acquire run-specific boosts alongside permanent rewards, like XP modifiers, runes that improve Lara’s stats, and manuals used to unlock and upgrade her outfits, such as her fan-favorite bomber jacket. As players progress through each level, they can stack perks to enhance Lara’s abilities, and even craft weapons to upgrade her arsenal.”
Tomb Raider Reloaded is a roguelike and includes iconic locations from the series like the City of Vilcabamba, the Lost Valley, and St. Francis’ Folly. It also features well-known characters like Winston, Anaya Imanu, and Werner Von Croy. Lara Croft is voiced by Keeley Hawes (who voiced her in Tomb Raider: Legend, Tomb Raider: Anniversary, Tomb Raider: Underworld, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, and Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris) and the score is composed by Tina Guo.
The game promises the usual rotation of events and weekly challenges that you can expect from mobile titles and additional rewards from modes like Tomb Exploration.
If you’re more interested in console games, we’re still waiting to hear more about the upcoming title in the works under Amazon’s umbrella.
