New rules are coming to Warhammer Underworlds. Games Workshop is known for having multiple spin-offs of their successful franchises. The grimdark sci-fi series of Warhammer 40,000 has several in the form of Horus Heresy, Kill Team, and Necromunda. The publisher’s fantasy sister series, Warhammer Age of Sigmar, is no different with both Warcry and Underworlds. As for how the new rules will change the game, Warhammer Underworlds is providing extra options for how players fight in their matches.
New Warhammer Underworlds rules
According to an official Warhammer-Community post, new actions are being added to Warhammer Underworlds. In addition to Move, Attack, Charge, and Guard, fighters will also be able to Stun and Barge. Stun is simple. One of your fighters chooses an enemy fighter adjacent to them on the board and applies a Stagger token. This is important since you can re-roll an attack or casting roll on an opponent that has a Stagger token on them.
Alternatively, Barge is a superaction; combining both the Move and Stun actions. It’s a risky move that lets you expose fighters who are out of position or rush into enemy territory to target a key character. The downside is doing this will stagger your fighter in turn. So if you do this action, make sure the enemy can’t capitalize on this weakness.
Finally, there is a new ability called Salvage. This is done during the power step. Instead of playing a power card, delving a feature token, or passing, you can discard a power card and draw a new one. This is meant to help players refresh their combat options when a game takes an unexpected turn.
In addition to new rules, the post mentions a new mechanic coming to the new boards for Warhammer Underworlds. The four new boards in the upcoming Wyrdhollow box will include new tiles called Snare Hexes. Any fighter that enters a Snare Hex, willingly or otherwise, will become staggered.
