Last August, Free League Publishing announced The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying. This book is a D&D 5e adaptation of the publisher’s award-winning Middle-earth TTRPG, The One Ring. Furthermore, this adaptation will be overseen by The One Ring’s lead designers, Francesco Nepitello and Marco Maggi, whose work includes several supplements like Tales From the Lone Lands and Ruins of the Lost Realm. Thankfully, fans of fantasy will not have to wait long since this adaptation has a release date.
The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying Release Date
According to an official press release by Free League Publishing, The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying will officially release on May 9. This release will include the 236-page core rulebook, containing new rules for magic, player options including new heroic cultures of Eriador, and terrifying adversaries. In addition, there is Shire Adventures. This is a 104-page book that goes into detail about the Shire. It contains seven pre-generated characters. including the famous Bagginses, Brandybucks, and Tooks, as well as five pre-written adventures. For those familiar with The One Ring Starter Set, this book is a direct adaptation of that set to D&D 5e. Finally, there is the Loremaster’s Screen, which includes a compendium on Rivendell. The compendium also contains a map of both the valley and the house of Elrond.
The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying is available for pre-order right now on Free League’s website. The core rulebook is at an MSRP of $49. Shire Adventures is sold at an MSRP of $39. The Loremaster’s Screen and Rivendell compendium will cost $29. Finally, there is a bundle that includes all of these books for $99. If you pre-order, in addition to a physical copy, you will receive a PDF of the materials through DriveThruRPG for no additional cost. The books will be shipped out on May 9.
