Eagle Dynamics released the brand new Normandy 2.0 map for its popular military flight simulator DCS World, and the launch trailer really neat.
If there’s one thing Eagle Dynamics is really good at (besides making a mean hardcore military flight simulator) is creating trailers, nad this one really is no exception. It basically feels like the trailer of an actual war movie. while the human models perhaps don’t hold up as well, the dogfighting scenes are absolutely spectacular.
The music by Two Steps from Hell, which happens to be one of my favorites, certainly doesn’t hurt either.
You can watch it below.
The map can be purchased Eagle Dynamics’ own store for $47.99, including a large swath of terrain that goes from Paris to London and beyond. Despite its name, there’s a lot more than just Normandy to be explored.
Here’s what you can expect.
- Highly-detailed, accurate and realistic virtual environment modeled on the Normandy region
- over 100,000 buildings, towns, and cities that you can explore
- Advanced graphics engine delivers stunningly realistic and immersive visuals, which lets you feel like you’re flying in the actual plane.
- Realistic sound effects, including engine noise, gunfire, and explosions,
- Various training missions and campaigns, which allow you to hone your flying skills in different scenarios
- In the Early Access, three seasons of the year will be available; spring, summer and autumn.
DCS World is currently available only for PC and the base simulator can be downloaded for free (properly “free” in this case) either via the developer’s own site or Steam. If you’d like to see more, you can also enjoy the trailer teasing what Eagle Dynamics has in store for 2023 and beyond on top of the recent news about multi-threading implementation. Speaking of third-party developers, Razban is getting ready to release the early access of the F-15E Strike Eagle, while Heatblur is coming close to the early access of the F-4 Phantom.
