Today Activision and Toys for Bob released a new trailer of the next Crash Bandicoot game, Crash Team Rumble.
While the game’s genre and game-as-a-service nature may get it some sideways glances from part of the fanbase, we have to admit that the animated intro cutscene is really quite awesome
We get to see the heroes (and villains) that participate in the game as they compete for the Wumpa fruits, and the animation is excellent. I wouldn’t blame you at all if this made you want a new Crash Bandicoot CGI cartoon.
You can watch it below.
Crash Team Rumble will release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One on June 20, 2023. Cross-platform gameplay will be available. A closed beta is going on right now, and it’ll end tomorrow. Unfortunately, it’s locked behind pre-orders.
The game is a 4v4 team-based multiplayer title in which players can play three different roles, Blocker, Booster, or Scorer to compete over who manages to grab more Wumpa fruits and get them in their drop-off zone while also hindering the opposing team. It’s also a game-as-a-service with seasons, Premium Battle Passes, and all the trappings of the increasingly widespread GAAS business model.
If you’d like to learn more, you can check out the previous reveal, which also included another trailer.
