DCS World Teases 2023 Content & Reveals Chinook Helicopter With Spectacular Trailer

Fans of the realistic combat flight simulator DCS World by Eagle Dynamics have a lot to look forward to in 2023, as the developer showcased in a new trailer.

The video focuses on the many aircraft and models promised by third-party developers for this year including the F-4E Phantom by Heatblur,  the F-15E Strike Eagle by RAZBAM, the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior by Polychop, the F4U-1D Corsair by Magnitude 3, the C-130J by the Airplane Simulation Company, the new Mirage F1 versions by Aerges, the Normandy 2.0 map by Ugra Media, and the Sinai map by OnReTech.

The simulator will also receive technical updates and optimizations like multi-threading, Nvidia DLSS, and Vulkan API support. On the features front, we’ll see enhanced weather, the much-anticipate dynamic campaign engine, and more.

Yet, as is basically a yearly tradition, there is a surprise at the end, with the announcement of the iconic tandem rotor helicopter Boeing CH-47 Chinook, which apparently is coming to DCS.

Do you think that’s all? Think again. As further in the video, we get what appears to be a tease of the Grumman F6F Hellcat carrier-borne fighter. No further information has been share on release windows, but the trailer’s title says “2023 and beyond” so there’s no promise that either the Chinook or the Hellcat will actually come this year.

You can watch it below for some lovely aviation porn. One thing is for sure: Eagle Dynamics knows how to make great trailers.

DCS World is currently available only for PC and the base simulator can be downloaded for free either via the developer’s own site or Steam.
