Tower of Fantasy Reveals Mobile Ray Tracing Support & New Look for Umi

Today Level Infinite and Hotta Studio had a couple of reveals in store for fans of their anime-style MMORPG Tower of Fantasy.

We start with the reveal of upcoming mobile ray tracing support, which according to the developer, allows for the improved rendering of distant details. The trailer mentions a collaboration with smartphone manufacturer OnePlus and a showcase of the feature at MWC2023 in Barcelona between February 27 and March 2.

It’s worth mentioning that mobile ray tracing isn’t nearly as powerful as its counterpart on PC and consoles, so don’t expect a game-changing feature. It does involve better ambient occlusion, softer shadows, and better reflection, but you may have to squint a bit in the video below.

The second reveal is the alternate look for the brand-new simulacrum Umi, who was added on February 23. She’s definitely taking on a darker style coming on March 2. You can see what I mean in the video below.

Tower of Fantasy is free-to-play with optional microtransactions and currently available for PC, iOS, and Android, including a recently-released Steam version. Its developers have been rather consistent in updating it with new content since its release, and besides Umi, we recently saw the addition of the new simulacrums Annabella and Alyss to the growing roster.

If you’re interested in the game, it’s a sci-fi MMORPG set on the far-away planet Aida, devastated by a cataclysm that destroyed most of the colony established by mankind centuries before. The players have to survive in this hostile environment among the ruins of civilization against increasingly aggressive and mutated monsters, while exploring a mysterious story full of intrigue and adventure.
